I think I could almost get back into Magic The Gathering or things like 40k if I could find ways to make them More Swingy. Optimal play for both of these usually involves controlling the randomness of outcomes but for someone who doesn't want to have to play optimally with decks and lists from the internet, that just leads to me feeling like I've lost before I've started playing most of the time. I want variants of 40k or Hearthstone or whatever where the top tier best decklists still lose to random bullshit every handful of matches. More insane Hail Mary payoffs etc please. I want to have fun playing, not spending hours preparing to be the best.

Watched Wendell & Wild and holy shit that was some of the most visually stunning stop motion paired with some of the worst storytelling I've ever encountered. Utterly baffling.

You know how some electric motors and some rotary generators can be used as each other? Cause it's just spinning electromagnets? Does anyone know a word for that component that could be used for either?

Added a bug to last night. The good kind though. This one is from acornbringer's low poly animals pack on itch (https://acornbringer.itch.io/assets-animated-low-poly-animals).

Finally switched back to my second generation Chromecast today cause I just just cannot deal with how unreliable and buggy the gen 3 "Chromecast With Google Tv" is. What a prime example of product bloat making something actively less usable.

Another update! Construction! Getting all the little visual glitches sorted was actually the biggest challenge for this one, especially making sure the raycast doesn't just hit the back of the player's head, but I'm liking this as a start to the system.

January 26 is weird for me this year. Normally I try to take some time to sit in quiet and honour those lives lost and the destruction wrought by my ancestors and those like them, and my place and responsibilities as someone who is heir to that destruction and thus tied inextricably to the lands I call home. And that's normally a quiet and very grounding moment for myself. But this year, my second January 26 living overseas, I feel so alienated from my own sense of country that I am struggling to place myself within my larger context and it's giving me a whole other kind of grief? So I guess today I'm paying respects to the first nations folk of Australia past and present and also sharing a sense of connection in disconnection with other immigrants all around the place. I hope we can all find moments of peace and grounding today.

Every time I see a picture of Keir Starmer I think it's Richard Spencer.

It seems ridiculous to be frustrated with the speed of light for being too slow but the fact that the lowest possible ping between two points on opposite sides of the earth (using glass fiber transmission) is 200ms means I'm getting annoyed at universal constants anyway.
