This week's #ScreenshotSaturday for #ProjectWeirdLittleGuy is showing off some amazing trees that Clover put together with a cool foliage shader I whipped up that I'm pretty happy with.
Renfield is fuckin joyous. An absolutely brilliant argument for the importance of public domain. Be warned that it is joyfully gory and it's codependence/abuse story is camp as hell. But go watch it to see everyone involved just having the most fun making a ridiculous movie.
I've admittedly drifted back to Twitter this past month or so. Network effects are strong! But I should note here as well that my new book is out next week, and this week I received my author copies and this was very exciting.

I wrote a Python script that accepts a line of input and then prints “Yes” or “No” randomly in response.
I asked it if it was sentient, and it said yes, and I got chills, man.
_Chills_.
Hello fediverse! 💛
If people now think Substack is good because the twitter idiot is pissed at them, can I remind everyone that one of the keystones of the Substack business model is transphobia? They're a garbage company who have been actively working for years to create the transphobic moral panic currently engulfing the US. https://gen.medium.com/substack-is-not-a-neutral-platform-8fc5bdf8e5f2

A day will come when an entire segment of journalism will need to navel gaze about how catastrophically stupid they were.
ChatGPT was released half a year ago now. There is zero excuse for a journalist to have not used it, tested it, and concluded that it’s a psychological con relying on the human drive for anthropomorphic projection.
Y’all look like fucking idiots. Stop it.
the average cis person only uses about 10% of their gender
why do I support right to repair? simple: i want to upload my own MIDI files to my washing machine to play when it finishes a cycle without voiding my warranty
My daughter, who has had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this observation about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen:
i’m proud of all the birds. good job birds you’re doing your best

What I'm listening to today: "Ambient patching with Prism Circuits Canvas and Quasar systems, BPoOT (20220825 191252)"
Prism makes modern re-imaginings of Serge/Buchla style modular systems. These systems excel at patches where control is driven by feedback loops and voltage logic rather than programmed sequences.
This strange, spacey patch creates an ocean of strange cross-interacting sounds loosely driven by a 16-step sequence the circuit moves through as it chooses.
After year 3 or 4, many women on HRT opt to start or switch to one of the elemental progestins, conventionally cryogesterone or pyrogesterone, although electrogesterone is becoming more popular since the first generic version was approved by the FDA in 2017. For those seeking less traditional capabilities, estranil (E0) is sometimes used in clinical practice as a partial or total replacement for estradiol, to allow access to more powerful umbral techniques. (Note that estranil has not yet been formally approved in the EU, but FAERS only lists one suspected case of tenebrotoxicity in the six years the drug has been on the US market.)

It's #TransDayOfVisibility so here I am being visibly trans! Hi! I'm Ash and I'm an autistic, chronically depressed ADHD trans woman. I started my transition about 8 years ago and these days I'm a lead game designer at Avalanche Studios, I own my own apartment in Stockholm, and I have many people who love me dearly. It has been and continues to be tough sometimes but I'm alive and I'm doing pretty well.
